In conjuction with the crazy weather out West, we had about two days of ice. This morning as mom and I were leaving for the hospital we had one giant sheet of ice on the cars and the driveway. I figured out that if you use the "wrong side" of the shovel the ice comes up much easier. It was kind of neat pulling huge sheets of ice off the car windows.
One of the perks of being on Long Island in this weather is that it is absolutely beautiful out. Each house has icicles hanging from the eves / gutters. The houses all look like little cottages from a winter painting. The photo above is of the icicles hanging off of the gutters at my parents' home. If you didn't have to drive in this weather, it would like living at a ski lodge.
